eXfer Records - Serum is a powerful wavetable synthesizer plugin that combines the sound engine of its predecessor (Serum) with the capabilities of Drumpad. With this product, eXfer has created one of the most versatile instruments in all aspects possible. A new type of synthesis called wavetables was implemented into this product that allows you to manipulate your sound in ways never before heard by man. Wavetables may seem like an odd name for these types of electronic sounds, but if you think about it they are nothing more than a collection or “wave” which can be sampled and then manipulated to create a sequence that is repeatable and predictable. This is what Serum does best. In its factory state, Serum provides a powerful set of tools to manipulate your sounds beyond imagination. Firstly, the product comes with a number of classic synths from Roland, Yamaha and Korg. It also includes a collection of sounds from popular artists such as Deadmau5, Kaskade and Wolfgang Gartner. All of these presets were taken from their original synthesizers and brought into Serum for your manipulation pleasure. Secondly, eXfer has added a number of new features that will help you get exactly the sound that you are looking for. These new features include the Drumpad, which will allow for better control over the note lengths in your wavetable. A new LFO system was implemented that is more versatile than ever. This allows you to modify your sound in ways that were previously impossible in Serum. Lastly, eXfer has added a very powerful user interface that allows you to easily swap in and out different wavetables to see what they all sound like. A small waveform at the top of the screen shows you an example of what is currently playing, allowing you to make further edits without having to memorize each individual sound. On September 19, 2014, an update was released for Serum including the Wavetable Synth engine from its older sibling, Serum. The update was relatively small but added a number of features to make it easier to get up and running with the product. The biggest feature in this update is the new “Slicing” method which allows users to create variations on the same wavetable with a single tweak of a knob. This means that instead of starting with a blank canvas, you can tweak your wavetable up to 9 levels which will play each step across your sound in your sequence. The resulting sounds are not always predictable or repeatable but are very rich when it comes to creating unique textures that are hard to replicate using other methods. Also included in this update was an option to change the speed of the LFO system by selecting different speeds within the global knobs menu. cfa1e77820
